Marco Polo and I
have both walked
the painted streets
of Venice
communed with
the one hundred white cats
that rule the blind alley near
Chiesa di San Giovanni Chrisostomo,
squinted across the great piazza,
sunset over our shoulders,
into the fiery gilded alcoves
of the Basilica San Marco
and the stuff of fairy tales.
Marco Polo and I
have seen things of which
the Kublai Khan
could only dream.

From Paris (9 days ago), to Barcelona and now Venice...where're you going next, Coyote?
You must be a wayfarer then...
Yes, I suppose I am. I have a twitchy nose, a great deal of curiosity, and I've lived many lives...
Twitchy nose, curiosity, all good..but, how have you lived many lives..?
I'm not sure. But time and topography seem to fold in on themselves rather strangely sometimes, in this landscape where I live...
When you say time and topography fold in on themselves rather strangely, I imagine them folding in like batter being poured in a bowl, with a slight shake. It twists a bit.
Perhaps it's time for me to go bake a cake.
:)
I smile.
