Each minute impulse

I'm quiet enough
sometimes
I can feel my heart
beat
a small muscular sun
hung
within the caging ribs
of my glassy torso
each pulse pushing
life
through the inner
trunk
branches and twigs
spreading through my
body.

When I concentrate
I can hear the rush
of the finelined echo
of each small swirl
each minute impulse
moving blood outward
from the steady warm chord
suspended in my chest
through me
and around this live island
and feel familiar wonder
that I should be aware of it.

Glad you like it, Christa; why is that?

Biology major - what can I say? :)

Beyond that, it's just so expressive and in-tune. I find the processes of life to be absolutely fascinating anyway, especially the human body. This just did it for me - just Wow.

Glad to make a biology major happy...

Perhaps you are not as pleased with it as I am...it is a great piece.

Actually, yes, I'm very pleased. And thank you. I just don't use emoticons, and I'm afraid I 'sound' a bit arch without 'em sometimes...
