That's 200

That's 200 poems. I've posted a piece every weekday, and a many weekends, since last fall, barring one break to nurse a chocolate hangover. The chocolate was so worth it...

Singing Moon is entering a new phase. From here on, I'll continue to post, but less regularly. I've reached a crossroads, and 200, while an arbitrary number, is a nice round one. I think it's obvious that these poems span many years and many lives. I possess more notebooks and journals, and I may turn to them again. Just now, I feel a great need to rebalance my own existence a bit and live in the moment, rather than plunging repeatedly into events that had lain dormant for decades. Or, alternately, than having to consider each new act and event as a potential piece for this blog.

I've spent the past fall, winter and spring immersed in these words, swimming deep and sometimes dark waters, and curiously, finding new light in them. I've written many poems I regard as decent, and one or two that are quite brilliant. (We coyotes are not without ego...) It's been utterly worthwhile, and much work. Now I feel worn. It's time to regather. I believe the acts of gathering experiences and writing about them are inseparable, but they are not the same. It struck me one morning a couple of days ago that I should be out standing in this summer, rather than in front of a monitor, writing about another one. It's a time for new experiences.

That said, writing this stuff goes beyond what I do, to enter who I am. I can't not write. Singing Moon remains, and so do I. I hope you'll reach back and read through the archives. There's a lot there. I'll continue to write, and continue to post here. To those who have woven themselves in and out of the comments on these pages, I thank you. Your comments and your interest have sustained me through this churning, vital, absorbing first phase of the blog, and I can't tell you how grateful I am. I'll continue to read your blogs with great interest. Good luck, and good writing to you! I'll stay in touch.

Oops. Jackrabbit! Gotta run! Ta!

The restless coyote
sniffing the air
bounds off
in search of new adventures
or prey.
Run rabbit, run.

I admire the way you did post so often. Life prevents me from actually writing out my thoughts or ideas as much as I'd like (even though I have scraps of napkins with ideas on them.) And I fully understand the need to climb out of the past and live for the moment. It will make for more interesting writing in the future.

I know I'm looking forward to more of your fantastic work.

OK, I'll bite. Which ones are the "brilliant" ones? I have my own faves, of course...

Well then, Nonny, those are the brilliant ones, aren't they?

Take good care, C. See you on the wet side of the beach.

And thanks again, 'dreamer. Keep stealing those napkins...

And I'll very much miss giving it to you, fingers. But I'll not be gone entirely... and I'm thinking I want to write something about one of your pictures...
