Suddenlong

Blows, throwing yellow leaves
spinning between
cold forming prisms
and suddenlong shadows.
I sniff at changing air
hear a clamouring vee
in the upward chasm
feel a season
rising through bare soles
I am already passed beyond
the half open door behind
that holds loosely back
a muffled etude for piano
electric light squeezed
to a thinning triangle
broken to splinters
on smooth brick steps,
shakey black iron rail
creaking to one side
offering
no boundary
no safety
no grip at all.
