Ever noticed how so many official sculptures in Ottawa have the First Nations guy crouching and pointing at something out there?
This effort is about a year old, roughly boat-shaped, and tied to the War of 1812. To me, it looks like a re-sketch of Bill Reid's Spirit of Haida Gwaii after somebody humorless told a public artist: "Make it cliched, lose all that subtle whimsy stuff... and don't forget to put a big freakin' gun on the front of the canoe."
Hey. I know. Everybody's a critic...
